there is no payment for ipod touch 3g. for internet u must be in a wifi area like mcdonalds, coffee bean, starbucks, places like those or if u have ur own router at ur house where u can produce ur own wifi, that u use with laptops, or gamings systems.
as for the songs yes u can use limewire but that is illegal just giving u a heads up

There are no monthly fees for the iPod itself. If you want internet for it at home at least, you will need to subscribe to a broadband internet service, or get a mobile hot spot, which you subscribe to. Bottom line, you have to pay to use the Internet in one form of another.

For music, Limewire and such are piracy. Same for music. You have to pay for much of it to be legal.

If you want a device that has free music and a free connection to that music, get a radio. That is how I mostly listen to music these days.

If you’re too cheap or too broke to pay for content, just don’t buy an iPod. Downloading copyrighted content from shareware is illegal and extremely unsafe. If $ 129 a pop for virus removal and a multi-million dollar lawsuit equals “free” music, you need a math refresher course. Free cable or satellite TV is not your God-given right just because you have a television set. Free food isn’t your God-given right because you have a refrigerator/freezer. Free music isn’t your God-given right just because you bought an iPod so if you’re not willing to pay for safe and legal content, there’s no point throwing away a couple hundred bucks on an iPod.

for all ipod touches u dont need to pay for internet u only use the wifi u have at home or at coffe shops etc(where wifi is availble), yes, u can use limewire or any other programs to download music just drag the music file onto itunes and sync it, if u dont have itunes(u need itunes to work with all ipod) go to apple.com and download for free
