Question by Me: Can I put my music on an iPod touch?
I want to get an iPod touch for christmas but was wondering if I had to use iTunes. I have music on my computer already. Its not from iTunes though, its from anything like various sites/friends to ripping them from the cds. So can I put them on the iPod touch, or do they have to be from iTunes?
Oh and also ive put almost all of my music from my computer into the iTunes library.
The sites are like yahoo and aol music type sites where you pay for them.

It is illegal if its from sites. But friend cds are okay. You are able to put them on the iPod Touch (IM GETTING ONE FOR CHRISTMAS TOO!!!!) but it can crash :(

What do you think? Answer below!

You can put music from anywhere but to transfer to iPod Touch you need iTunes. iPods can accept songs, videos, podcast, application only from iTunes and its good coz you can manage your library effectively without getting bugs.

    Two steps process:

Add all the songs to iTunes library and then sync ipod and transfer into iPod Touch pretty simple.

they do not HAVE to be purchased from itunes but you do need to use itunes to put the music onto your ipod.

all you need to do is make sure the files are .mp3 or .aac files if they are any other like for example .wma itunes will convert them. but if you have alot of songs and they are all .wma it will take a long time to convert them.

After you have made sure they are the right file type or converted them you can drag and drop them all into itunes to select more then one you can press and hold the ctrl button on your computer and click each song.

after draging and dropping all the songs into itunes you may now plug in your ipod after a little while you should see the ipod on the left hand side of the screen (if you havent picked the name this is the time to do it it will say name your ipod then you name it for example john’s ipod.)

after its showed up on the left hand side list then you can drag all of the songs over the word ‘music’ (make sure its the one under ‘Your names’ ipod) and then let go and they will copy to your ipod.

REMEMBER. if you have alot of songs your going to have to wait awhile. if you unplug the ipod well the songs are being transferred then it may break your ipod. if you need to stop the transfer just slide the slider at the bottom of your ipod touch screen that says cancel sync.

After that just plug in your headphones and enjoy.
